One thing to keep in mind with recruiters is that their job is actually to find qualified candidates for their client companies (not to find you a job). If you are easy to work with, qualified, skilled, and persistent (without being bothersome), many recruiters will work their tails off to place you. Be aware that yelling at or guilting your recruiter will do nothing but put you to the bottom of their list. Treat them as if they are a perspective employer (e.g. be respectful, follow through on their requests, ask good questions, and answer questions honestly but don't be afraid to toot your horn, or mention your strengths in actual skills like database development, desktop publishing, typing 90wpm, etc.). Ask your recruiter what kind of skill sets or experience they're actually looking for. If they're worth their salt, they'll tell you if you're not a good fit for the positions they fill, in which case it would be completely appropriate to ask for referrals to other recruiters who might be of assistance.

Also, keep in mind that different agencies work with different companies (though there is often overlap). If you have specific companies that you would like to work for, ask the recruiters if they do, or if they know who does in town. If you find yourself in a position where two companies are wanting to submit you to the same position at the same company, go with whoever called to submit you first. Many new recruiters don't realize that double submissions from two agencies can actually get you disqualified (depending upon the company). Last but not least, if something seems shady, it probably is. Go with your gut, and if you find yourself in an uncomfortable situation, ask your recruiter about any concerns you may have. If you feel like you're not getting straight answers, walk away. There are a lot of great recruiters in every staffing agency, but there are always a few bad eggs too.

I swear there should be a rulebook on how to work with recruiters most effectively... maybe I should write an e-book! lol

Why subject your self to this crap? Stupid in the city, clash of the idiots, Alice in waste your time, ext.

Why do see a movie if you know it's shit going into it. I mean, do you go in just so you can bitch about it? I bet that is the best part of seeing any of these films.

Thomas, lets rent last right's of random pride and watch it together. I think it will be more enjoyable then the last three movies you saw, cheaper, and it has Dwight Yoakam in it.

No, Dwight isn't directing so there is nothing to worry about.

Having watched SaTC, I do not think I have ever tried to equate Women's Lib with SaTC. You have to give viewers more credit on their abilities to know the difference. I watched the show for fun; there is no character in this show that I can relate to, let alone wish to emulate, albeit I have watched many TV episodes and the first movie. If I wanted thoughtful screenplay with intellectual conversations and deep characters that I can have scintillating analysis with my friends afterwards, then SaTC would NOT be my choice. Appreciate it for what it is.

What a nice tribute, Thomas. Have you ever considered adding an audio recording to the web site for items like this? Hope your great new project at work is going well. Best regards, Scott
